Establishing a Data-Driven Framework for Long-Term Asset Management
New Jersey Department of Transportation, in coordination with the New Jersey Division of Property Management and Construction (DPMC), initiated a statewide effort to better understand and manage its building portfolio. The initiative requires a comprehensive assessment of facilities to support informed capital planning, improve asset performance, and ensure compliance with current standards. StudioJAED was engaged as a key team member to support the development and implementation of this large-scale program.
Solution
StudioJAED is contributing to a multidisciplinary team delivering a comprehensive facility condition assessment and inspection program across all NJDOT facilities.
Through a structured and data-driven approach, the team is evaluating building assets and creating a foundation for long-term planning and investment. StudioJAED’s role focuses on project coordination and data management to ensure accurate, efficient, and actionable results. Key elements of the program include:
- Development of a complete building inventory across NJDOT’s statewide portfolio
- Detailed facility inspections and condition assessments for each building
- Identification of deficiencies related to life safety, health, code compliance, environmental, and energy standards
- Collection and organization of data to support strategic decision-making
- Preparation of a comprehensive Capital Improvement Plan outlining required upgrades
- Projection of capital needs over 5, 10, 15, and 20-year planning horizons
