StudioJAED was contracted by the Delaware Department of Education to perform a statewide facility condition assessment of all public schools, which serve more than 100,000 students. The overall project includes nearly 200 school facilities totaling approximately 18 million square feet. A pilot study of a single school district was performed to review all assessment processes and procedures to evaluate final product expectations with the client.
Delaware's Facility Condition Assessment scope of work included field verification and corrections of all drawings, individual space data collection, and the tagging and recording of building maintenance assets. An evaluation of existing school facilities was conducted by an assessment team denoting deficiencies and recommending appropriate corrections with assigned priorities and reasons, provision of cost estimates for each correction, and development of a capital planning budget for each school. An updateable Web site was created to enable viewing of all school plans and assessment data with in-depth querying and reporting capabilities.
More than 16,500 building corrections were identified at a total projected repair/replacement cost of $825 million.
