Delmar School District
- Project: Delmar School District
- Delmar Junior & Senior High School
- Square Footage: 157,000 square feet
- Scope of Work: The Delmar School District, unique due to its configuration straddling the Delaware-Maryland border, once housed 700 students in grades 7 through 12 in one aging facility. The main building of the school was constructed in the 1930s. When enrollment projections increased, and a plan was developed to expand the educational program to a grades 6 through 12 alignment, StudioJAED was selected to assist the District with a facility plan to meet these demands and carry the plan through design and construction.

With assistance from more than 100 community members, school staff and administrators, an on-site schematic design for the new facility was completed by StudioJAED. The new plan called for the construction of separate middle and high schools linked by expansive common areas. This arrangement offered the best solution to the required flexibility of the new building, while at the same time meeting the construction budget.
The new facility is served by a full energy-recovery geothermal heat-pump system and is among the most energy-efficient buildings in the State of Delaware public schools.
