James R. Nelson, FAIA, NCARB Director of Design Jim has been a registered architect for 43 years and is the only Delaware architect elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Fellowship is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member. Jim's collaboration with Wilmington Mayor James M. Baker and his involvement in the New Master Plan for Wilmington and the Vision for the Riverfront Development are examples of his planning achievements. His position as Past President of the Delaware Institute of Planning and Design has fostered relationships that have solidified his position within the Wilmington design community. As Director of Design, Jim is responsible for the design of Cokesbury Village, new additions to Legislative Hall, and several new libraries throughout the State of Delaware. Jim has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University.
